Darren Styles -Save Me






I have chose Darren Styles because I love his songs and he's a great DJ. The song here I like how he has created this video , with him being the sky . The song communicates well to the chorus "I want you to save me." The setting is really calm here with the blue sky in the background . You can feel his emotion in the song, it's how he sings it . It makes you want to find out more about this person. 
The music video for "Save Me" was filmed in Spain, using high wires to show Darren jumping off a tall building. You got love Darren Styles, he brilliant. 


At the start of the video we have a long shot of the blue sky. We get the changes of the different lights coming through from the clouds. There’s g another long shot of Darren Styles staring out ahead in his own little world. This shows us that he must be thinking about someone or something. The light closes in on him and he then disappears probably into the clouds. We get the different light flares of light coming from different angles within the sky. We get the big boom sound; we have a voice over of Darren Styles singing. The voice over of Darren Styles singing is good because it tells the story more of his actions and how he’s feeling during the scenes. We have a mid-shot of him walking ahead from the left angle and then we have another mid- shot of him in the right hand corner walking ahead. These two different angles show the different speed of him walking to the end of the building. Mid-shots are used to concentrate on their upper body and their actions. We have a long shot of him of looking ahead from a better and wider angle. The view looks amazing, so calm and peaceful to look out from.

We get the view from before from the right (mid-shot) of him walking closer to the edge. We have him in centre looking above, his head tilted up a bit. We have the light flare again going into brightness and back to where Darren Styles stands. We have a close up of his hands, you can see he has them tighten up; this shows all the tension he is feeling in his hands. We have a downward shot from his body looking down to his trainers. This shot is good for a different perspective from a steep angle. It’s like were looking down from his point of view. POV shots are good when we’re looking from what lies ahead from the person. Darren Styles in this shot could be looking downwards from the building. He may be thinking “What if I fell will I make it”. We have a side view shot (POV) this focuses on his upper body and his hand movements. We have another shot of where we see him moving his arms back, it looks like he’s about to take off into the deep sky.


We see him a behind long shot, but I would say the camera is positioned on the floor with the camera looking up. Just because where you see him about to fall, the perspective looks low like the camera slanted looking upwards. As he moves his legs he’s about to fall off the building. Here we start to feel the tension if he’s going to fall or not.  We see the stillness in his hands as their still out to the sky; you see he is hanging of the edge. As he falls the light decreases as he falls even more. You have the bright light flare to the right increasing; this leaves it into a shadow on his right side of his face, which is a close up. Close ups are good for when you want to capture someone’s emotions; you can see that Darren Styles is hurt and in pain .Darren Styles repeats the lyrics “please save me, save me”. He wanting someone to save him, so someone who he loves maybe. We have an extreme long shot used here as we see him falling in the air with his arms and legs out like he is flying. The shot here is called an aerial shot because he is hanging of a building. I would say there is a camera attach to a helicopter to get this angle from a bigger landscape perspective. Extreme long shots are used for an extended look of a scene with including mise-en scene and capturing a bigger focus.

We get a long shot view of him from a distance, so I would say the helicopter has moved further back to create this depth within the image. We have a quick close up glance of him. We have the bright light flares coming into together creating that haze effect on him. I like the bright flare because it shows how deep in thought he is. We have different close ups of him with his eyes closed. Darren Styles is singing “Save Me”; this does truly show us how he’s feeling in the way he’s singing. The way he sings is slow voice, but you can feel the song more. You have that long shot again of him falling from a distance. Another close up of him with his hands up in front of him. His hands slowly go as he looks up to the sky. We get a long shot of where the camera has moved in closer, but creating that wider shot of him falling down. We have a close up of Darren Styles where he is looking right at the camera singing “I need you to save me”. We can feel he’s emotions when he is singing. The next long shot I like is where he’s floating in the air; it looks pretty cool this shot .I like it how it fits in with the sky above with him positioned below it. It creates depth within the scene especially when the song is called save me this scene works well with it. He just wants to be saved by someone before it’s too late. Another shot is a long shot too with him positioned on his side; you have the bright light coming through as he closes in deeper. He kinder rotates so he’s in an upwards and downwards position. This shows that he is thinking of her of him being distracted by the memories he remembers of her.


You have the bright light flares again leaving him in a mid-shot of him turning. You have a long shot of him in a more spread out position as he reaches the light which full fills over him. You have a long shot again of him rotating around from the exterior building. I think the rotating and the light flares may link to him as he is thinking of his girlfriend and as well as him having flashbacks of her. We see his memory come to life where we have a close up of this lady (girlfriend maybe.) We have a quick flash of the light flares which then leads back to Darren Styles of a close up as he is looking and thinking into the light. We have the quick take off's where Darren Styles is falling down and down from the building. This shows the fast motion of him falling which looks good. We have flashbacks of the lady again. We have a rotation look from the building itself from a low angle view, so like were looking up to it. We have his lady friend again in his memory. We have the same shots of him in mid-air and the flashbacks of his lady friend repeatedly. We have shots of where he falling down from a different part of the clouds (long shots) of him singing. We have close ups of Darren Styles singing and shots of him and his lady friend together with the light flare drawing in on them .

We have a quick panning shot of the clouds and a mid-shot of Darren Styles singing as he is rotating in the sky. We have mid shots of him and his hands and back to where he’s falling in the sky. We have close ups from different angles of him singing and memories of his lady friend again. We have the long shots of him floating in the sky. We get the light flares coming in again. We get close up of his hand when he sings “So take me by the hand please don't leave me here alone.” We have a close up of him singing and then to where he is floating in the sky above and the camera goes back to him in a close up of him singing. We have him where he’s getting restless and lost as he is closing his eyes.  We get all the different downwards and upwards shots as he turns, leading back to him in a close up. We have a long shot of four people in an office and they all rush over to the screen. The light flares brightens up and we get close ups of his arms, we have that quick take off again where he is falling. We get long shot of the people looking over the screen; they’re probably amazed by this. We get a mid-shot of Darren Styles looking relieved. We get all the rotations, upside and down shots of him closing his eyes and thinking. Close ups of him singing, long shots of him floating in the sky as well as falling creating different depth within the scene. At the end we see him reunited with his lady friend.

These lyrics are really strong; it shows that he has been waiting for a long time for he’s friend which he wants to be more than friends. He wants to be saved by this person, who he cares for a lot. He wants to be with her for the rest of his life.  The lyrics can relate to pain, hurt, devastation and life. It can reflect on how people feel today about someone whether it’s family, boyfriends and girlfriends. It shows us  how much we do something for the one we  like , we will do anything to get to that place. We all go through these stages at some point during our life.


Parody:

Here this s done by these two guys. They are good but it's like they are being forced to sing the song. It's just by the way they are standing and there is no feel to the song.

Charts:

Darren Styles released his single Save Me on the 19th march 2007. His album Sky diving has this song on that album which was released 16th June 2008.   There are a few versions of save me, there’s a slower version of the song, there’s a nitélite song, club- land extreme version and different remixes of the song as well. 

 Darren Styles song worked with his producer Mark Breeze to come up with his s songs . But Darren Styles came up with the majority of the style he wanted to create .

It looks really good, there really interesting with the blue dynamic background. The glow effect looks really cool as well, with the different shades of blues.

Here  this shows Darren Style's has a big event coming up on the 27th of October 2012. This is meant to be the biggest dance  event ever . The genre will be different dance/hard-core.dubstep,and drum and bass.

 Darren Styles - is live at clubland on Friday 14th March 2008. Here you have the crowd present; it looks like there having a good time. There singing as well with Darren Styles. They have their glow sticks with them at the ready dancing around. The atmosphere looks brilliant with so many people. You have the dancers in their retro clothes; you have the spotlights at the back creating the different flashes of lights, going all the way around. You get the reactions of the people in the crowd, it looks so much fun. This is a very raving style for hard-core. 


Here is a dub step version of Darren Styles. This is brilliant because it creates a different dynamic of the song . You can hear the bass more where it builds up. You can hear like different skipping noises like a DJ is spinning the record. He repeats I want you to save me - This creates the different bass line of the song. You can hear the drum patters and you get shorts bits of his voice. The chorus it creates the more dub step sound  with all the bass line skidding sounds.  like this , it sounds good. But the original is better.  


Here is a proper hardcore version of Darren Styles - Save Me . He still has the emotion in the song. The music starts to build up with all the dance feel and sounds to it . The chorus bit gets really into the dance/Hard-core part of the song. You still have the soft sounds in the background. This song good, I'm into my hard-core music.
